Random Ramblings

I type this sitting in an unusual place. Unusual because its new to me. I just moved out of my "rented" place. Much pain and aches later, I now am in a new surrounding.

Things didn't go smoothly, at all! From saturday, things kept screwing up. I'm on dial up at the moment, as there wasn't enough time to shift everything. Thankfully, one of my friends was free and had a car so moving the stuff wasn't so bad - it was bad enough. Right now, we are both so achy from moving everything. I can't believe one person can have so much stuff. My boxes, bags and all are just cluttering up the whole place. I'm just feeling so overwhelmed by the whole day.

Anyways, big thank and hugs to my friend who stuck it thru all and went home sticky as can be!

Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

On Friday I went over to a friend's place for dinner/potluck. I haven't seen this friend in ages - since beginning of last year when she was back from a break of her studies. She came back permanently in Dec, but the both of us have been busy. Ok, I digress... Back to the topic.

It was an interesting dinner - talking to people who work in an industry I'm contemplating entering. The little things they "whine" about - is problems I wish I had. As much as they might just "whine" a little about it, you can also hear it in their voices of them being proud of the same thing. We are all humans, and we sometimes just need to complain and have someone listen.
The night got me thinking about my direction in life and what do I really want to do. Yes, I enjoy my job, I'm passionate about it - as most people can testify - but it is getting to me, or at least some people that I work with is getting to me. I really enjoyed myself, and it was great to see her again. I've missed her so much and she has been there for me, without even being on the same island as me, much more than I can say for a lot of other people on this same small island as me.

The next night, unforeseen circumstances, had us meeting again. It was great to just talk to with her over drinks. With her, its easy just to say anything. Not really judgmental, and gives good advice at the same time.

Thank you Al - for listening to me, complain and whine... You will always be good company in my books. And yes, you need to wait awhile before what I want to do happens. Patience my dear, I need you around.

Yes, so I have bloody thick skin. But give me a break, I'm still recovering from the CNY holidays and work is a pain thanks to a lot of freaking idiots.

As I was talking to one of my colleagues at his desk, I started hearing this "ding-ding-ding" sound - Like some small bells were ringing. Me, being me, was getting a bit irritated by it, so I looked around trying to find the source but it just kept going.

My other colleague seating in front, looked at me for a while and then started laughing like crazy when I started looking around. Then I finally figured to look up......

*Drum roll please*

There was a bloody wind chime hanging there and my head was knocking the weight below which was causing it to make the sounds. The clever me, was looking around for the source even!! My colleague was laughing her head off coz I was so blur just looking around while the whole time I was the cause of it. It was just so hilarious.

I type this as I'm on the bus home from Chinatown. I think these following of my body parts have been seriously injures - shoulders, back, knees, ankles, feet and right thigh. why just the right thigh i hear some of you ask, well how in the world would i know. climbed up the steps of he bus and this sharp pain shot through it. i nearly fell! now that i'm finally sitting down after such a long day, all the pain is coming to the surface. Do I hear someone people asking why I'm in so much pain? Aww so sweet - I'll be nice and tell you too.

All in all, it was a fruitful day. manaed to finally see my darling cousin whom i havent seen in ages n was missing him dreadfully (Hey cousin! i know you r reading this). he gave me something i sorely needed n to hear his calming voice made my week.

After lunch with him, went to Suntec Carrefour to get a tumbler & earphones. Damn earphones were so ex so i went to funan in hopes to get a cheaper pair. Found them but not until after the incident. Some stupid boy was running into funan, presumably to play some game, dropped a whole bunch of cards-including his student ezlink. Tried to call after him,but he was too fast. In the end i had to go all the way to the info counter to drop it off for him.

Now I'm on my bed after having a luxious shower, typing a hell alot faster. Then I headed to P.S. since I was nearby to buy a bigger bottle for my water at work. Had this bright idea - Walk to Paragon to buy the cute little compass my friend has. On a Sunday. In the afternoon.

Started walking happily and all. Got to the small road between Hello! and Citibank, and realised the Change of Guard was just about to start. So crazy me, followed it back all the way to the Istana just to watch the entire cermony, then walk back towards Paragon (AGAIN). It was quite fun I guess - lots of eye candy, I got nice pictures and one of the Provost guys dropped the gun!!! Hahahahahahahahhaha(Evil ain't I). Yes, my back was aching, and my feet was starting too act up by then. Managed to find the compass quite fast then I had my 2nd bright idea of the day. Decided to go to Chinatown to find the German sauages I've been wanting to eat since I first heard about it. Smsed my friend, but didn't really get a firm response but I went anyway. Stupidly walked all the way to CK Tang instead of using the busstop infront of Heeren.

As I got off the bus at Chinatown, I nearly turned around and went back. It was swarming with people - What was I expecting for the last weekend before CNY. What the hell, I decided to try anyway. With my no sense of direction, I was walking around Chinatown looking for some German man selling German sauages. After a long walk, I managed to find it and he was quite a character. The sauages and the guy was worth all the pain and trouble looking for them - and the pictures I got are also quite nice!!

After which, I had to find my way out of there, bought a couple more things and then headed back. Now here I am in a lot of pain. I bet I'll be limping around for the next few days and be quite depressed over my bank balance as I bought so many things today!! Sheesh, so much for trying to save money.

Yes - not the best picture of any cat. This was taken downstairs my block, in a fairly open area. Yet, the cat was snoring, you read it right the first time. The gentle snoring which was clearly heard in the quiet of the night(since it was 2am) drew me to this little one who only awoke, when I took the final picture as there was a flash. Don't worry that I woke it up - It went right back to sleep when I took a few steps away.

I so wanted to blog this last night, when I got home. But that “wonderful” idea brought a whole bevy of problems – when my connection didn’t work, and I had to start calling people to help fix it…which by the way, if anyone cares, is still not fixed and I’m so annoyed with a whole bunch of people. But that… is a different story for another post.

Me, the workaholic, working while being sick worked late again on Tuesday night. Between my fever, backache and just plain tiredness opposed to the choice of a nice comfy bed – who is going to choose the first one??

So walked down, to catch a cab home with my colleague. After standing there for a while, we decided to try the other road. By then, I was damn grumpy and annoyed and in a bad mood and was probably whining my head off – you need to ask my colleague to confirm – about the lack of cabs and the person who was trying to steal our cab by cutting in front of us.

On the other road, we stood as close to the traffic light as we could so no one else could cut (typical Singaporean right? Give me a break please, I am sick!). Suddenly this Chinese man starts walking towards us and stares at the same time. Hence, me being me, whines (I know this one for sure), “Why does stupid people always have to stare at me?” Since I was in a bad mood and all that jazz, was not willing to be looked at like a piece of meat, I continue on with my whining. He continues and walks past us, and even turns around to look! The gall of some people. *cue swearing* What do I do? Complain some more about the bloody annoying man.

Suddenly, he shocks us by turning around and walks back to us. These are the words that comes out of his mouth, in Mandarin: “Where are you two going? Maybe we can share cab.”

I am stunned, so is my colleague. She starts hemming and hawing while I’m trying to control myself. For some absolute strange reason, I get into a giggle fit – maybe it’s the relieve of the pure annoyance and irritation I was feeling just before that. Trying my best to control myself so he doesn’t see me laughing and also hiding behind my colleague at the same time is actually harder to do than it sounds. Thankfully, my colleague answered him after a long pause that we were going to the furthest corner of Singapore that she could think of and it was not on the way for him *phew*

What in the world possessed that stupid man? Was it a ploy to hit on us, travel with us, and get our numbers? Questions for the book of conspiracies there will never be answers too, like “Did we really land on the moon?”
