Sunday, June 19, 2005Blown away... I was
To cheer myself up cause of my lost phone (what, you don’t know what I’m talking about?!?! Go read my last post), I decided to go and watch Batman Begins.
WOW! I’m amazed. It’s my favourite Batman. Christian Bale portrayed the Dark Knight perfectly. After the past few Batmans (even a Batgirl, which was too big), it was beginning to fade, become some ridiculous comic to screen adaptation. But Christopher Nolan did a fantastic job on the whole (yes, a few scenes were a bit OTT and some ridiculous) and I think/feel this is the best Batman yet. By showing the core of a man, it makes Batman a lot of reachable and understandable. How many people can actually identify with a billionaire "playboy" who dresses up like a bat to hunt people down? The beginning - when they were setting the story - was a good touch. It was just enough to make everything believable, but also put it slightly out of reach - it is Batman after all. For a man without any superhero powers, he is an enigma of his own. Struggling like any other human being with emotions - his fear of bats, guilt towards his parents death and even the revenge that he could not take - yet he also finds a level of acceptance that most cannot find and uses these emotions/anger to create "Batman" The stunts were great and it doesn’t fail to deliver on the action. With a good storyline to set and later backup it was an easy watch. By means of Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman), the gadgets were given a realistic view, such as the memory cape and Kelvar bodysuit instead of picking items from the sky, they all had some grounding we can associate it with. Thankfully, this Batman has no nipples on his suit. Come on, there is really no need for it… it just looks dumb. (Although for the men, there are prominent nipples on Katie Holmes). I keep my fingers crossed that Christian Bale will do the next Batman – he is the best so far. What others are saying: Dose of reality A comparative guide
Saturday, June 18, 2005A saga....in the making
After much thought, and a little persuasion. Ok so Al wasn't really persuading, she just said that she would see me there. We all thought it was a good idea.
So begins my story of this day. Took a bus to get to ulu Hougang, and on the map that I was looking at it seem that if I had reached Kovan MRT station, I had missed my stop. Dutifully looking out the entire time, suddenly I spotted in a distance a Kovan Melody sign. Alarm bells started ringing in my head. Therefore, when I saw the MRT station I quickly jumped off the bus! I tried walking backwards – but got even more lost so went back to the station trying to consult a map which showed nothing helpful at all! I was walking towards the bus stop again after going to the ladies to clean up a bit (Damn hot evening! I was hot & sticky from the walking). Right after I crossed the road (to the bus stop), I reached into bag to get my phone to try and call Al to see if she had any idea where I was in relation to the location. Bloody hell, my phone was missing!! So I quickly turned around searching the ground as I walked back to the toilets but my darling Sony Ericsson phone was NO WHERE TO BE FOUND! I called the phone while searching around but to no avail :( My phone has gone to someone else… I’m depressed – I liked that phone… and I had things in there which is very dear to me. Of coz to make matters worse, I was curt with Al as I was stressed out over my missing phone. Sorry babes, really am.

I’ll have you know that all these quizzes I’m posting is my friend’s fault. Nearly every weekend he does a whole bunch of quizzes, which obviously makes me do some. Definite way to kill time I swear! Here is a new bunch, just coz I luvvvvvvvvvv you guys so much. Some of the pictures are amazingly beautiful anyway.
Your wings are BROKEN and tattered. You are an angelic spirit who has fallen from grace for one reason or another - possibly, you made one tragic mistake that cost you everything. Or maybe you were blamed for a crime you didn't commit. In any case, you are faithless and joyless. You find no happiness, love, or acceptance in your love or in yourself. Most days are a burden and you wonder when the hurting will end. Sweet, beautiful and sorrowful, you paint a tragic and touching picture. You are the one that few understand. Those that do know you are likely to love you deeply and wish that they could do something to ease your pain. You are constantly living in memories of better times and a better world. You are hard on yourself and self-critical or self-loathing. Feeling rejected and unloved, you are sensitive, caring, deep, and despite your tainted nature, your soul is breathtakingly beautiful. Action: A driver (of a car) stretching over the person sitting in the passenger seat to open the door on that side.
What does that normally bring to your mind? What image popped up in your head this time? To me, it shows a level of familiarity and care. I saw that just happened recently, and it tugged really hard at my heart. To those who are at the receiving end of this kind of action on a daily basis, remember it is special.
Monday, June 13, 2005Growls, squeals and piaking!
A hilarious dinner and an extremely warming one (no I’m not talking about the climate only).
Since my friend and I both love steamboat; the plan was to go enjoy / treat ourselves one weekday night. After a few hurdles later, I was standing at the Marina Bay station for the late woman – even though she picked the later timing! Of course we both look like nutcases when she starts waving insanely when she spots standing there hungrily & grumpily. As if I am welcoming her back from some long trip, which she promptly tells me it felt like for her. When we get to the place, we happily settle in & are raring to go after having a look at the spread. While we are picking our food, our live prawns arrive in some small container— piaking away that I was a bit fearful they might just knock the plate of the top and jump onto the road. First we started arguing (my friend & I, not the prawns) about the water temperature. She wanted to put them into the soup, but I insisted that it wasn’t hot enough, so we have to wait so we don’t torture them in lukewarm water. After which, we were all set to drop the prawns in—and they were still piaking so both of us we not sure what to do, coz she was afraid it might just flip hot water all over us. So imagine, 2 girls standing at a table, squealing (or somewhat near that) at the prospect of putting the darn prawns in. With much fanfare, squeals, grumbles and arguing, 2 of those prawns finally got dumped into the water. I swear, those prawns are feisty; till their last moments, they were still FLIPPING!! (I think this is the reason why there must always be guys when there is live stuff to cook) I believe these two nonsensical girls garnered a lot of unwanted stares even tho it was a weekday. By the time we were done, we had ate & talked so much and such interesting conversation that was. For some reason, it had turned to dogs and what they would eat. I showed her how my old dog used to fight with this kid suspender he got hold of one (with growling sound effects too) – and the nut started laughing like crazy. Said I looked exactly as a dog would. Darn girl, I am a dog! According to her, her best friend does a great impression of her dog. I must see that one day, hahahaha Great company and fun on a weekday night. Guess steamboat bbqs are good ideas for a weekday night. Anyone up for the next one? Update 14/6/05: Now my hot friend says we need to knock the prawn on the head prior to putting it in the water. Anyone knows if there is any truth in that? Coz its going to be hell just to knock the damn bugger flipping prawn, let alone it's head.
Thursday, June 09, 2005Woah.... so many in such a short spanIn the last week, I’ve watched three movies – and I’m pleased to inform that all of them are great!!! It was a barrel of laughs and enjoyment with Madagascar, Mr & Mrs Smith and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. My movie watching is so unbalanced - I can go for long periods of time without watching anything, and miss a gazillion shows and times like this, when I seem to be watching everything. With that, I give you a whole bunch of movie reviews by yours truely!
Madagascar Yes, yes I know it’s a cartoon but an extremely enjoyable one. A bit over the top spoofs / mentions (New York Giants anyone?) but done pretty well and I was laughing like crazy. The little kid I watched it with (no not my cousin this time, coz she had already watched it earlier. Damn that child has a better/bigger/fuller social life than me, but I digress) was shaking along to the music. That damn song is still stuck in my head, "I like to move it to move it” – those lemurs were soooo hilarious. Psychotic penguins were a classic act I must say. For some reason it brings to mind that attachment that has gone around the world at least 5 times where one penguin wacks another on the back of its head and falls into the icy water. I just have one question, how come David Schwimmer also ends up in some nerdy, always in need role? Mr & Mrs Smith Of course being the action junkie that I am, this was my favourite show out of the 3 – Angelina Jolie definitely helped too! At the beginning of the movie, after seeing Miss Jolie for about 5mins on screen already, I whispered to my movie partner “Man, I wish I was a man!” and she burst out laughing at my statement. But seriously, that woman is so hot! Those pouty lips, the firm arse, and the amazingly endless legs – what is there not to like about her? It is a great action comedy and I’ll definitely watch it again coz I can’t get enough of the quips throughout the movie. Jolie & Pitt really can play off each other… Hitchhiker’s Guide This one was refreshing change… don’t ask me why. It just is. From the get-go it was exciting already, no long drawn out setting of scene type. And those out of the ordinary doors, Marty – it was wild ride not knowing what to expect. A bit of a usual ending but it was a good one nonetheless. Thanks Jerry for the great recommendation. I nearly didn’t catch it if not for his stamp of approval on this show. See, movie theatres, its people like us who help you make money. How do you thank us? By raising your prices, like you don’t earn enough already…. As it is your snack counters make tons of money since cost price for making the stuff is so low. Hehe, its been a busy week so far.
Friday, June 03, 2005I've gone nuts (or just really bored)
My friend has recently been posting a lot of the quizzes on his blog and I've been tempted for quite a while. In a bid to not make this a quiz-blog, all the quizzes will be in one long long post. If this irks you, please remember to leave an anonymous note telling me to die or not to post this kind of crazy stuff again.
Sounds a bit like me, although I probably would never wear a bra like that. (Yes, its too much information for some of you)
I thought I'll be water... normally tend to get water as an element.
WOOHOO! This is just great. No idea what other choices there is (besides Buffy, which I really don't wish upon myself - No offence to the 2 J's) but I really like this one.
*sigh* Kisses..... a long forgotten act
No surprises at all here.
Awww the picture is so cute
Dating quizzes always make me laugh. The results are just quite interesting and so funny
I'm glad - my better friends are better suited to attention.
OK, last one
No, I'm not in love...or anywhere near it
